They put my 80yr old grandma under for shoulder replacement surgery last night. She started having a heart attack right outta surgery and taken to their cardiac ward. Her IV fell out several times and every time she called for help it took AT LEAST 15-20min for a nurse to finally show up to reinsert IV. 15-20min could mean life or death... considering she's 80, she's JUST outta surgery and she JUST had a heart attack! She should never have gone under for shoulder replacement surgery to begin with. It caused her to have heart attack, because at 80yrs old she was too high of a risk! NO respectable hospital would have done that!
Do not use this hospital. For anything. Most of the staff is friendly, but the social worker and most of the doctors are more worried about money than the health and safety of you or your loved ones. If an ambulance tries to take you to DePaul, adamantly refuse and ask for ANY other hospital.
Check in for surgery - 5am. They had me confused with someone else with the same name. Wrong insurance, wrong ssn, wrong dob, etc. Took over 30 minutes to resolve. They were unable to confirm insurance approval. Rather than risk having surgery that wasn't prior approved by insurance (thus potentially not covered), I walked out.
Volenteered here once for halloween party. Nice people plus the place seemed clean.
Waiting FOUR hours for a child to get stitches. They offered no blanket, didn't tell me where a vending machine was or anything at all. This ER is hell on earth.
