60+ years I have been counting on the Branneky knowledge base. I have never NOT been able to get what I need here. Since my home was built early 1940's, box stores don't carry the specialty items I needed. 5 stars and hundreds of smiles!
Old fashioned, old style hardware store. Friendly, knowledgeable, and help staff.
If you can't find it anywhere else, Branneky either has it or knows where you can get it. They carry things no one else has. If you ask for something they are out of, they will go order it immediately and tell you when it will come in. Family-owned, family operated, they recognize their study customers, and they treat everyone with respect. They are very knowledgeable and can always suggest a fix for the kind of problems that crop up in older homes. I can't say enough good things about Branneky True Value.
Just like any other place, some of their prices are more expensive, some are less expensive but many are comparable.
Ive lived in the neighborhood for 18 years and I understand some people liking the instant service as soon as you walk in the door. But for me, as someone who does a lot of fabrication work, Sometimes I just need to find what I need on my own. The persistent almost demanding they help me, even when I say I don't need help, is annoying. Plus most of the people working there do not have a pleasant attitude especially at the service counter. I cant speak for every worker but I've only seen 2 of them there ever smile and it wasn't at me! They seem to only treat the everyday regulars with respect I would expect from a Mom and Pop type hardware store. I miss the Biener hardware store in St.John. They did it right! And was friendly to me! "This is my personal experience with Branneky hardware". I will be avoiding going there unless I absolutely have to. I even know some of the Branneky family personally and have thought about letting them know my experience with the store.
I drive past three of The Big Box hardware stores to go here for the help and assistance I can't get at any of those places.
